CHAIN TENSIONING SYSTEM IN AN ORUGA TRACTOR 5 OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The purpose of the present invention application is to register a chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor, which incorporates notable innovations and advantages over the techniques used so far.
More specifically, the invention proposes the development of a chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor, which, by its particular arrangement, allows the automatic correction of the tension of the track chain of a caterpillar tractor and without the use of any pneumatic or hydraulic means for operation.
15 BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Caterpillar tractors, widely used in many machines or heavy vehicles, are known in the current state of the art.
20 In the particular case of track systems with a triangular shape, and especially after passing over difficult and irregular terrain, it is very common for them to be loosened in their feed chains.
25 A poorly tensioned feed chain can cause, from malfunctioning of the machine, poor positioning, vibrations in the feed, reduction in the effectiveness of the work, up to sometimes, the total or partial breakage of the feed chain and, consequently , the immobilization of the machine.
30 This implies that firstly the assistance and rescue operations of the machine, from the point of breakage and immobilization, to the assistance or repair shop, are very expensive, both in time and economically.
There are systems for regulating the tension of the feed chain in machines or 35 vehicles with tracked tractors, based on hydraulic elements, but their effectiveness is

limited, taking into account the complexity of a hydraulic pump system that the device has to incorporate to ensure its correct operation during the entire harvesting operation.
The present invention contributes to solve and solve the present problem, since it allows for adequate tensioning of the chains of a caterpillar tractor, without the need for the use of any pneumatic or hydraulic means for its operation.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention has been developed in order to provide a chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor, which comprises a tensioning front wheel, a rear forwarding wheel, a chain, rolling wheels, and an intermediate wheel of transmission, and mutually forming the front wheel, the rear wheel and the wheel
Transmission intermediate a triangular arrangement; and that it is essentially characterized by the fact that it also comprises a frame, a crank and a connecting rod; the rotating frame being in relation to the frame of the caterpillar tractor itself, said rotating movement being contained in a plane perpendicular to the axles of the front and rear wheels; and the front and rear wheels being simultaneously linked to the frame, the
20 rear wheel in a fixed position in relation to the frame, and the front wheel in a mobile position in relation to the same frame and therefore in relation to the rear wheel; presenting the front wheel possibility of movement in a straight line defined by the frame itself in the direction of approaching or moving away from the rear wheel; the crank being fixed in relation to the frame of the caterpillar tractor itself and in an intermediate position
25 between the front and rear wheels, the rolling wheels and the intermediate wheel; the connecting rod being at one of its ends articulated with the crank, and at the other end also articulated at a fixed point with respect to the axis of the front wheel; the angular or turning movement of the connecting rod being contained in a plane perpendicular to the axles of the front and rear wheels; presenting the point of articulation between the crank and the connecting rod a
30 relative position in relation to the frame, and therefore also in relation to the rear wheel, which is variable according to the inclination of the frame itself relative to the frame of the caterpillar tractor itself.
Additionally, in the chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor, the connecting rod has a geometry as a "boomerang".

Alternatively, in the chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor, the intermediate wheel is a tractor.
5 Preferably, in the chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor, the frame has a straight rail containing a sliding pin, the axle of the front wheel being inserted and integral with said pin, the rail defining the straight line of movement of the front wheel in relation to the frame itself and the rear wheel, and one end of the connecting rod being articulated in turn in said pin.
10 Thanks to the present invention, it is possible to maintain an adequate tension of the chains of a caterpillar tractor, without the need for the use of any pneumatic or hydraulic means for its operation, by varying the shape of the triangle described by the traction chain path .
Other features and advantages of the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor will be apparent from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment, which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, in which : 20 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Figures 1 and 2.- They are schematic views of a preferred embodiment of the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the present invention, indicators
25 also of its operation. Figure 3.- It is another schematic added view of a preferred embodiment of the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the present invention. Figures 4 and 5.- They are schematic views of a preferred embodiment of the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the present invention, indicators of
30 its result in the case of attack on a positive and negative slope, respectively.
DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
The chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the present invention belongs to the sector of the caterpillar tractor technique.

Accordingly, and as schematically depicted in Figures 1 and 2, the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the invention comprises a tensioning front wheel 1, a forwarding wheel 2, a chain 3 , some wheels of
5 rolling 4, and an intermediate transmission wheel 5, and mutually forming the front tensioning wheel 1, the rear forwarding wheel 2 and the intermediate transmission wheel 5 a triangular arrangement, as is already known in the state of the technique.
In accordance with the invention itself, and as can also be seen schematically
10 in Figures 1 and 2, the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor further comprises a frame 6, a crank 7 and a connecting rod 8.
The frame 6 in turn can rotate in relation to the frame of the caterpillar tractor itself, as indicated by the arrows of figures 1 and 2, said movement being contained in a plane
15 perpendicular to the axles of the front 1 and rear 2 wheels.
The front and rear wheels 2 are simultaneously linked to the frame 6.
More specifically, the rear wheel 2 is in a fixed position in relation to the frame 6, and
20 the front wheel 1 is in a mobile position in relation to the same frame 6 and therefore in relation to the rear wheel 2.
Accordingly, the front wheel 1 presents a possibility of movement in a straight line defined by the frame 6 itself, in the sense of approaching or moving away from the
25 rear wheel 2.
For this purpose, the frame 6 has a straight rail 61 in which a sliding pin 62 is inserted which contains and is integral with the axis of the front wheel 1. Said straight rail 61 defines the straight line of movement of the front wheel 1 in relation to to frame 6 itself and
30 the rear wheel 2.
The crank 7 is fixed in relation to the frame of the caterpillar tractor itself, in a resulting intermediate position between the front and rear wheels 2, the rolling wheels 4 and the intermediate wheel 5.

The connecting rod 8 has a geometry as a "boomerang", suitable for its operation.
The connecting rod 8 is at one end articulated with the crank 7, and at the other end5 is also articulated at a point that is integral with the axis of the front wheel 1, inconcrete, is articulated with pin 62.
The resulting arrangement assumes that angular or turning movement of the connecting rod 8 is contained in a plane perpendicular to the axles of the front and rear wheels 2.
10 As can be seen comparatively between Figures 1 and 2, the turning movement of the connecting rod 8 by means of its articulation in the crank 7, supposes that the other end of the connecting rod 8 which is articulated with the pin 62, causes the movement of the pin 62 inside the rail 61, which ultimately means the displacement of the front wheel 1, in the direction
15 move away or approach the rear wheel 2.
At the same time, the point of articulation between the crank 7 and the connecting rod 8 has a relative position in relation to the frame 6, and therefore also in relation to the rear wheel 2, which is variable according to the inclination of the frame 6 itself with respect to the own frame
20 caterpillar tractor.
Using an arrangement already known in the state of the art, said point of articulation between the crank 7 and the connecting rod 8 is linked to the frame 6 and therefore to the rear wheel 2 by means of an elastic means. In this preferred embodiment, the
The elastic medium is a vibration damper 63, as schematically represented in Figure 3. This arrangement already known in the state of the art also contributes to the tensioning of the chain 3 tension.
The arrangement of the chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor of the present
The invention is compatible with the fact that the intermediate wheel 5 is a tractor, as shown schematically in Figure 3.
Thanks to the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the present invention, the operation of chain tensioning 3 is substantially simplified, as it is not necessary
35 no pneumatic or hydraulic input for its operation, since the system of the

The invention is fully mechanical, and is regulated automatically, since the crank 7 is fixed, and the connecting rod 8 is the one that, in its movement, drags and repositions the front wheel 1 with which it is, achieving the regulation of the tension in the invention.
5 The arrangement of the chain tensioning system on a caterpillar tractor of the proposed invention, with its movable frame 6 and connecting rod 8 in relation to the caterpillar tractor frame itself, and the fixed crank 7 in relation to the same caterpillar tractor frame itself, It is particularly useful for avoiding the tensioning of chain 3 in the case of attack on a positive slope or a negative slope, as can be seen respectively in the
10 figures 4 and 5.
The details, shapes, dimensions and other accessory elements, as well as the materials used in the manufacture of the chain tensioning system in a caterpillar tractor of the invention, may be conveniently replaced by others that are
